Christmas displays in the West End

5:47 pm places to visit

Went into the West End of London on Saturday to see friends, shop and soak up the yuletide spirit. The Christmas window displays were not fantastic (I’ve seen better before) but they did put me in the mood for yuletide activities (namely going home to eat chocolate and watch rubbish TV programmes).

The Harrod’s displays consisted of mannequins in tinselly outfits surrounded by glittery white branches. The crowds weren’t too bad for this time of year (I’ve seen a lot worse). The exterior looks quite pretty at night too, if you are shopping in the evening.

Picadilly in London is a stylish shopping street with the popular Burlington Arcade, offering cashmere and jewellery for those wealthier shoppers amongst us as well as surreal looking cakes.

Fortnum & Mason brought out the tired theme of the twelve days of Christmas, but it looked quite sweet I suppose.

This was my favourite display in Fortnum’s not quite sure what it is supposed to be though.

Perhaps the best Christmas decoration was outside the Royal Academy. They’d used a three-legged creature with his foot on a head. Interesting…
